Bank integrations
Churches that bank with Equity or KCB can receive giving straight into the bank account and see it on the MyChurch ledger. Co-operative Bank and NCBA notifications are received and kept, but not yet credited.

How a bank payment is credited
- A member pays: by a payment prompt from the app on a collection account tied to the bank account, or by paying the bank's M-Pesa paybill with the church's account.
- The bank posts a notification to the private callback URL MyChurch issued to it.
- MyChurch accepts it only if it matches a payment prompt MyChurch sent (by the reference it issued) or a bank account the church holds, and only once per bank reference. Equity notifications must also report
SUCCESS. - The money is credited to the collection account and the bank money account, marked unverified with payment mode
bank, because the banks offer no way to confirm a payment independently. Reports show the mark so a treasurer can tick it off against the bank statement.
What the church provides
- Equity: the account number and the Finserve (Jenga) API credentials issued for it.
- KCB: the account number and the Buni API credentials (consumer key and secret) for it.
- Co-op and NCBA: nothing yet; contact support if your church needs them credited.
Enter them in the portal under Giving, Bank accounts. Credentials are encrypted when saved and only a hint is shown back. Then ask MyChurch support to complete the bank-side setup: we give the bank its callback URL directly.
Bank callback URLs are private
Each bank callback URL contains a secret segment that authenticates the bank. It is configured with the bank by MyChurch support and is never published, shown in the portal or sent by email. If you are a bank integrating with MyChurch, contact [email protected] for your URL. See Callback URLs.
